An automated restaurant experience
At one of Alibaba?s high-tech Hema grocery stores in Shanghai you can enjoy an automated dining experience. As you enter a quick QR code scan shows you your table and automatically notes your seat in the system for Hema's robotic waiters. You can look at a fresh array of seafood and handpick your own ingredients, paid for in-app. A raised highway of robot pods has replaced human waitstaff with humans mostly left to the greeting and cooking. www.axios.com/alibaba-robot-restaurant-shanghai-china-automation-41348039-2540-4a42-8495-f0991db71574.html?

The world?s first commercial rock lobster hatchery
A new partnership with the University of Tasmania is planning to commercialise rock lobster production research and establish the world?s first hatchery for rock lobsters. Despite the high value of rock lobsters the long and complex lifecycle has made it impossible before now to produce the species in a commercially scalable hatchery. Australian companies are being offered the opportunity to collaborate with the University of Tasmania to scale-up and commercialise its innovative rock lobster aquaculture systems and related technologies.. http://www.imas.utas.edu.au/news/news-items/world-leading-aquaculture-breakthrough-to-transform-lobster-production

Broccoli in your coffee
With funding from vegetable growers through Hort Innovation, CSIRO has developed a broccoli powder that could help pack extra veggies into your diet. The 100 per cent broccoli powder is made from whole broccoli, and produced using a combination of selected pre-treatment and drying processes to retain the natural colour, flavour and nutrient composition of fresh broccoli. Broccoli contains protein, fibre and health-promoting bioactive phytochemicals, making it an ideal candidate for being turned into a powder ingredient. https://blog.csiro.au/broccoli-better-latte-than-never/?

A restaurant with robots instead of chefs
Spyce, a new Boston restaurant, has a high-tech approach to fast-casual cuisine. It?s the world's first restaurant that features a robotic kitchen. After placing their orders via touch screen kiosks, guests can expect to have their meal ready in about three minutes. Once a dish is selected, robots in the kitchen combine the right ingredients before cooking and serving the meal. Staff help customers with ordering and garnish the final product. www.Spyce.com
