I was recently told that a board was looking for a person as a NED based on these 4 "H" characteristics which make a lot of sense to me. They should be Honest, Hardworking, Humble and have a sense of Humour!

New bioreactor captures as much carbon as an acre of trees
A new algae bioreactor can suck as much carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere as roughly an acre of forest — potentially giving dense cities a new weapon in the fight against catastrophic climate change. https://futurism.com/the-byte/bioreactor-captures-carbon-acre-trees

The Ideas Revolution has started!
The 3rd Industrial Revolution started on Oct 29 1969 when a message was sent between 2 computers at Stanford and UCLA.The world is undergoing a new revolution and it’s not just the 4th Industrial Revolution. We call it the Ideas Revolution because it’s encouraging many new ideas to be created and commercialised. Previous stages of the Industrial Revolution enabled us to build machines that could do things for us. The Ideas Revolution is enabling us to build machines that make decisions for us a- whole new step forward in technology. It’s creating many entrepreneurs because the barriers to entry have reduced significantly. It’s about sharing rather than owning. IdeaSpies has been created to share these ideas, explained simply in 100 words or less, so they’re understood easily. You can post ideas directly on the platform to share them.http://ideaspies.com/guidelines<

Believe in yourself and your idea
These are some of the rejections Melanie Perkins received before she was able to make her new design business Canva a major success. She presented her story at Sunrise 2016- one of the points being that you should not get too disappointed by rejection- learn from it and make your idea better.

A new service that provides support for people with a disability based on interests as well as skills
Hireup is an online platform that is changing the way Australians with disability find, hire and manage their own support workers, along with recent changes in legislation. Previously people with disability had to accept support work on someone else?s terms. The new approach encourages investment in technology and the community. The Hireup platform is designed to be secure, easy to use and flexible, benefitting both people who need services and those who provide them. It matches people with a disability and support workers not just on qualification but on shared interests. www.hireup.com.au
