It might sound like science fiction, but “marine cloud brightening” is being seriously considered as a way to shield parts of the ocean from extreme heat.
Water cannons are being used to spray seawater into the sky. This causes brighter, whiter clouds to form. These low marine clouds reflect sunlight away from the ocean’s surface, protecting the marine life below from the worst of climate change.
The Common Ground Project is a regenerative farm and social enterprise just outside Geelong that promotes food security by creating fair access to locally grown, healthy food. The farm has regenerated degraded pasture land into fertile and productive land. The farm not only offers an inclusive space for growing, but also cooking, knowledge sharing, and ongoing community collaboration. Common Ground Project provides hands-on workshops, training and employment pathways through Food Knowledge programs, which directly support Food Relief efforts in the Geelong region. https://www.commongroundproject.com.au/
SaFencing is the world’s first certified geofencing system for off-road applications that fully complies with the Machine Directive 2006/42/CE. It can be plugged into your existing equipment and with centimetre accuracy, the new technology keeps autonomous farm equipment safely within a confined space, reducing the need for supervision. The AGC box can guide a single robot or a fleet of robots, constantly calculating the best trajectories on-farm while avoiding obstacles and all the while communicating with you on your smartphone or a tablet. https://www.agreenculture.net/en/agcbox
When producing high quality beautiful yarn nearly 40% of the original fleece can be discarded. Traditionally, this “dodgy” wool is dumped at tips (usually in plastic bags). The discarded wool which is biodegradable and rich in nutrients is now being made into garden fertiliser pellets. A crowdfunding campaign enabled the NSW mill owners to buy the equipment they need to make the pellets. These natural pellets are good for the soil and prevent wool and plastic going to landfill. https://rb.gy/fnatd8
