A FOCUS ON the FACTS and not Political Power Plays CAN MOVE AUSTRALIA FORWARD

post-image

Yet again we are seeing political manoeuvring and power plays overtaking common sense as the dialogue develops on how to learn the lessons from the current bushfire disasters.

Some State Premiers are backing away from a Royal Commission for fear of recommendations to give the Federal Government the ability to take unilateral action at times of National emergency.  Some Federal Coalition members are seeking to limit discussion of, and potential action on, emissions targets and re-energising the NEG proposals.

This is why we need a community wide conversation on our democratic processes and how they could work better.

Politicians and their behavior is now under much more scrutiny as voters have more power through more information. Change in the political process is therefore needed.
