A "guarantee of origin" scheme for hydrogen

Such a scheme would provide an internationally recognised system that would differentiate between hydrogen based on carbon intensity rather than the existing vague, colour-based descriptions typically used to compare hydrogen derived from fossil fuel to that made from renewables and other sources.

Customers could then select the product they want based on price and carbon intensity, to suit their business and CO₂ reduction ambitions.

The comparison is petrol stations now, with 91, 95 and 98 fuel, where we choose based on engine requirements and price point.
