A smart fishing boat for sustainable fishing

The second winner in the CSIRO’s competition for World Ocean Day is Simon Bunker who had a great suggestion for approaches to sustainable fishing.

Moo“With my eight-year-old son Josh, we prototyped using machine learning with Google Teachable Machine to build a smart fishing boat. This would automatically avoid catching endangered fish and stop catching allowed fish when it reaches a limit.””

CSIRO fisheries scientists have been working for decades to support sustainable fishing in Australia and beyond. And new technologies are central to maintaining this.
