Soaking up oil spills - literally

Oil spills have a catastrophic effect on the environment, wildlife & human health, as well as the economy.

Current clean-up methods are expensive, complicated and frequently cause further harm to marine life & the surrounding environment.

A new sponge technology can absorb 30x its weight in oil, can be squeezed and re-used, as can the recovered oil. The sponge can also selectively absorb other nasties like phosphates, from fertilizer runoff and agricultural pollution.
