Grapes - an edible sunscreen
The skin of study participants who consumed lots of grapes developed an increased resistance to UV light.Grapes contain polyphenols, good stuff for repairing skin and fighting inflammation. After their grape adventure, biopsies revealed less skin-cell damage from UV light. The researchers also found that a topical application of a grapeseed extract containing the polyphenol proanthocyanidins inhibited the formation of sunburn cells.https://bigthink.com/surprising-science/grapes-uv-protection?rebelltitem=1#rebelltitem1

Copper is the New Silver
MedCU's (https://medcu.com/) copper antimicrobial dressings. The first, and only, in the world with regulation clearance for commercialisation, holding both FDA & CE. One of the core properties of copper is the spectrum of antimicrobial efficacy. Copper kills a wide array of microorganisms, including gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, fungi and viruses. The biocidal effect is achieved through several non-specific mechanisms, preventing the development of copper resistance, allowing copper to be an effective treatment against antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. For more information about MedCU's antimicrobial wound dressings and to see how it can be applicable to hospitals, diabetic patients, and more, click here:

Smart watches keep track of Parkinson's patients
A recent pilot study has shown the possibility for a smart watch to bridge the gap between doctors and patients, by monitoring symptoms in Parkinson's disease sufferers. A new application developed by Apple Inc, the Motor Fluctuations Monitor, will allow doctors to monitor patients via built-in hardware such as gyroscopes and accelerometers that can detect and measure subtle motor movements. A study published in Science Translational Medicine used the Apple smartwatch and app to follow 225 patients with Parkinson’s over the course of half a year. There is currently no cure for Parkinson's disease. | https://www.labroots.com/trending/clinical-and-molecular-dx/19800/smartwatches-close-eye-parkinson-s-patien

Empathy - in our brain or our heart?
A team from Harvard Medical School and MIT recorded directly from single neurons in the forepart of their brains. For the first time, the scientists identified a special group of cells that lets us acknowledge and predict someone else’s hidden beliefs. Even crazier, these neurons loyally encoded demonstrably false ideas that others may have, and beliefs that the person being studied doesn’t necessarily agree with.In other words, each of us has a smattering of brain cells dedicated to modelling another mind inside our own heads.https://singularityhub.com/2021/02/02/this-is-where-empathy-lives-in-the-brain-and-how-it-works
