Reducing Emissions in Construction
Estimates show civil engineering and public works in Sweden account for one-third of annual emissions. That hefty number prompted the Swedish Transport Administration (STA) to set a goal of no net greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2045. See https://infrastructuremagazine.com.au/2022/04/19/planning-for-reduced-emissions-from-road-construction/

Rubber no longer hits the road
Every time a driver brakes, accelerates, or turns a corner, their car tires wear down a little. Most car owners replace their tires every five or so years because of this normal wear and tear — but the environmental consequences are extreme. Now a London-based startup has come up with a solution to stop tire dust in its tracks. The Tyre Collective has created a wheel-mounted device that collects the tiny particles on electrostatically charged copper plates. Building a Green Future Together
Urban mining – collecting minerals and aggregates from building sites after demolition and reclaiming them for industrial usage. Enter smart containers and a circular economy, goodbye to illegal dumping and overstocked landfills. Israeli company GREENMIX builds recycling parks for urban mining of construction and demolition waste. They process the materials and produce green concrete, sand, and gravel used for roads, rail, and even underfloor fillers. GREENMIX operates two concrete plants, and the green concrete produced is based on 100% recycled raw material and cement. It has the “green label” issued by the Standards Institute of Israel.
