Recycling fabrics By Using Second-hand Textiles
I am creating a cheaper, durable, and sustainable alternative for a formal dress made from thrifted and deconstructed fabrics. 800,000 tonnes of Australian clothing and textiles are discarded each year, attributed to the effects of fast fashion which at times takes qualitative shortcuts for an expensive price. My solution aims to minimise fabric wastage while also reinforcing it through use of different stitches and patterns. The garment will be adjustable, and due to it’s sourcing from charity stores, the expenses will help marginalised groups. Could I please have some advice on ameliorating the conditions of used fabrics?
